About Legacy Trail Services

Bill Cook

Bill Cook, Owner/Operator

I am a retired U.S. Forest Service employee (served on the Medicine Bow NF, Pike-San Isabel NF, Idaho Panhandle NF (IPNF), and the Prescott NF (PNF), and several details with two Forest Service Enterprise Teams). One of my primary duties on the IPNF and PNF was to coordinate all the trail programming duties, including trail planning, trail maintenance, trail surveys (informal and TRACS), trail design, budgeting, grant writing, crew management and training, and equipment maintenance and procurement. I'm experienced in the operation of Morrison Trailblazer mini-excavator, Kubota mini-excavator, and SWECO trail dozers for heavy maintenance and construction.

I am currently an associate member of the Professional Trail Builders Association (PTBA).

On the PNF, I became certified as USFS, Region 3's TRACS (Trail Assessment and Condition Surveys) trainer for Arizona. I have surveyed over 300 miles of trails while working for the PNF and over 200 miles while working for the IPNF, and have outsourced myself to other national forests to conduct these surveys. I am available to train your forest personnel in TRACS or conduct the inventory myself as well as download TRACS data into the INFRA database for you. I possess a B.S. degree in Forestry from Colorado State University.

The following is a brief explanation of some of my past trail projects:
